During the week of March 18-24, 2024 the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) promotes National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week® (NDAFW). This year, the focus is “Shatter the Myths About Drugs and Alcohol.” We will be shining a light on what can happen in the brain of a teen who uses marijuana through a series of fun, easy-to-understand videos. MARIJUANA IS NEVER SAFE FOR TEENS.

Community Feedback Opportunity
The boards would like to hear from community members regarding the district budgets. Please see below for a link to a short survey that will help our boards inform their decisions in the days ahead. Please consider taking a few minutes to share your thoughts. We are working to get this survey translated into Spanish and will send that survey directly to our Spanish speaking families as soon as we can.

Dear Franklin Northeast Supervisory Union Staff, Families, and Community Members,
As many of you know by now, on Monday, April 8, 2024 a total solar eclipse will pass over our area of Northwestern Vermont.
Several of our towns fall within the path of totality which means we will be able to see the sun totally eclipsed by the moon. The eclipse is scheduled to begin at around 2:15pm and will conclude around 4:40pm. Please note that these times are based on data for Burlington, Vermont and may vary slightly for our communities.
Since last spring, our public safety partners have been elevating concerns about the influx of visitors that are expected to be drawn to our area to witness this remarkable event. Hotel accommodations have been fully booked for months, raising concerns about increased traffic congestion and potential transportation disruptions.
In light of these concerns and to ensure the well-being of our community, all schools in Franklin and Grand Isle Counties will be closed on Monday, April 8th. This closure applies to all FNESU schools in Bakersfield, Berkshire, Enosburg, Montgomery, Richford, and Sheldon. This decision was made in collaboration with the other Franklin and Grand Isle superintendents. This day will be made up at the end of the year like a snow day. On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, we will follow a regular schedule with a one-hour early dismissal.
We have ordered enough Solar Eclipse Glasses for all students and staff. Given the high demand, we recommend ordering glasses for your family as soon as possible.
For additional details about the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse, please visit the NASA website. https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/where-when/

All Schools in FNESU are closed today, March 11th due to the snow, wind, and muddy back roads.
Stay safe everyone!
